Base Pay Range $66,951.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr
Responsibilities
Manage an extensive portfolio of active grant projects (80–100) for the tourism grant program, including application reviews, I LOVE NY logo project marketing approvals, quarterly report reviews, and preparation of administrative documents, reports, presentations, and budget materials.
Establish relationships with grantees and respond to inquiries, address concerns, and explain the Tourism Grant programs to tourism companies, organizations, and regional stakeholders. Communicate with applicants/grantees via telephone, email, and paper correspondence.
Work with the tourism grant programs to assist with scoring of grant applications within program guidelines, while building knowledge of current practices and trends in the tourism industry and those funded by the NYS Division of Tourism.
Assist with other projects or duties as requested by the Assistant Director or Director of Tourism Grant Programs and Executive Director of Tourism.
Qualifications
Minimum appointment qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and two years of experience applying business knowledge, training, and experience to provide a wide range of professional and management‑level economic development services for the promotion of business, tourism, and international trade in New York State, including technical advice, problem‑solving assistance, business‑to‑business marketing programs, and the development of strategic plans and initiatives related to economic development services.
For NY HELPS placement, the title may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment; however, all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications listed above. Subsequent conversion to competitive status occurs without examination.
Additional salary & eligibility: Trainee levels (SG‑14 and SG‑16) or full performance (SG‑18) with corresponding salary ranges: $53,764 (Trainee 1), $59,994 (Trainee 2), $66,951 (Full Performance). Eligible candidates may be placed in a traineeship, required to complete the traineeship for advancement.
55b/c eligibility: Candidates must be currently enrolled in the Civil Service 55b/c program and meet the minimum qualifications.
Transfer eligibility: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Reinstatement eligibility: Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis.
