Under general supervision and per established policies and procedures, the FIG Paralegal provides legal and general support to the firm’s attorneys and clients. The role requires familiarity with and adherence to the firm’s policies and guidelines. The paralegal maintains positive relationships with attorneys (both internal and external), support staff, clients, and vendors, and ensures confidentiality of client and firm matters. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and organize documentation, including discovery materials, deposition notices, exhibits, and deadlines (training provided). Review pleadings and track case progress to ensure deadlines are met. Assist with managing discovery files, deposition schedules, and related materials. Track case status and upcoming deadlines. Use legal databases and litigation software; Microsoft Excel knowledge required (additional software skills a plus). Assist attorneys and paralegals in drafting documents, correspondence, motions, and pleadings. Learn and assist with trial preparation and provide support during trials. Work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Collaborate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients. Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules is a plus. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail. Job duties and responsibilities included are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. A paralegal certificate is preferred, but not necessary for applicants eager to learn and grow within the firm. Experience:
1–3 years’ experience in a law firm is required, though experience in a legal environment is a plus. Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization. Well‑organized, able to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively; strong organizational skills with a focus on case and project management. Self‑motivated and capable of working independently, with flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities. Proactive and solution‑oriented, demonstrating good judgment and initiative. Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to work under pressure with composure and resilience in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of four full days per week in the office. Specific scheduling details will be discussed with your direct supervisor. Occasional extended hours may be needed to meet business needs. Pay Ranges
This represents the presently‑anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith’s pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience. This is a non‑exempt position.
