The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed in the vacancy announcement should be used as management preferences and be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.**This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution, Vanceboro NC**Reporting directly to the Correctional Warden IV, the Correctional Associate Warden of Operations is responsible for assisting the Warden in the total operation of the facility. Additionally, this position has direct management and supervisory responsibility for the operation of several critical functions to include the general day-to-day and the 24-hour operation of the facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:* Ensuring the safety and security of the housing of male offenders housed at a minimum custody correctional institution and ensuring the safety of the staff and general public.* Working closely with supervisors to provide guidance and direction on prison policies and procedures. Directly involved with the hiring, disciplining, coaching, and training of employees.* Providing direction and structure for the work of the Correctional Captains, Correctional Lieutenants, Correctional Sergeants, Correctional Officers, and support staff.* During any extended period of absence of the Warden,**Management Preferences*** Documented supervisory skills in a prison facility* Documented knowledge of adult facility operations* Documented knowledge of adult Prisons’ policy and procedures**Minimum Education and Experience**Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
