Location:
Reston VA - hybrid 2-3 days in office
Salary:
$90-110K (depending on experience)

Job Summary The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing the full accounts receivable lifecycle, including billing, collections, cash application, and customer account management. This role leads the AR team, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, drives collection efforts, and partners with internal stakeholders to improve cash flow, controls, and AR processes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of the accounts receivable function, including billing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliations
Lead, train, and mentor AR staff; manage daily workflow and performance
Ensure accurate and timely invoicing in accordance with customer contracts, company policies, and accounting standards
Monitor aging reports and proactively manage past‑due balances; elevate issues as needed
Establish and enforce credit and collection policies to minimize bad debt exposure
Partner with Sales, Contracts, Legal, and Finance teams to resolve complex billing and collection issues
Review and approve adjustments, write‑offs, credits, and refunds
Prepare and analyze AR metrics, including DSO, aging trends, and collection performance
Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries
Assist with audits by providing AR documentation, schedules, and support
Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounts receivable or billing experience
2+ years of people management or team‑lead experience
Strong understanding of AR processes, revenue recognition basics, and internal controls
Experience with ERP or accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Oracle, SAP, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations)
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
