Required License/Registration/Certification Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or an active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing, plus an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment.

Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. May be exposed to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Three, 12‑hour shifts per week, 7 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; weekend and holiday work required.

Job Summary The primary responsibilities for this position include providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient‑centered care. Tasks encompass assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties to Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to university policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The environment supports collaboration between nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model. Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet proficiency; effective communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation capabilities. Highly motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and families. Skilled at working independently and as part of a strong team, with exceptional technical skills and proven ability to collaborate.

Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Education/Experience BSN + at least one year of RN experience preferred.
