The School of Computer and Cyber Sciences at Augusta University invites applications for two tenure‑track/tenured faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in Biomedical Systems Engineering. The selected candidates will demonstrate the potential for sustained research excellence and a commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate education. The target appointment date is Fall 2024.
Responsibilities
Teaching
– Teach during the academic year as assigned by the Dean, including grading, office hours, class preparation, and adherence to university teaching policies.
Service
– Service to the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, Augusta University, and the profession, including local, regional, and national/international leadership.
Research
– Persistent scholarship leading to national/international recognition. Key success measures include publications, presentations, activity in the field.
Required Qualifications
PhD
in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity. The candidate must have an active research program with publications in high‑quality venues.
Assistant Professor
– doctoral degree and an active research program. Preferred publications in journals and conferences.
Associate Professor
– doctoral degree with at least five years as an Assistant Professor or equivalent. Requires an externally funded research program, strong publication record, and leadership by serving on program committees.
Professor
– doctoral degree with at least five years as an Associate Professor or equivalent. Requires external funding, outstanding publication record, and leadership as committee chair or editorial board member.
For all ranks: evidence of ability as a teacher, scholar, and mentor; successful experience (waived for new entrants); desirable personal qualities judged by interview and references.
Shift / Salary / Benefits Position is academic‑year based (August–May). Full‑time equivalent is 1.0. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to funding availability. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and tuition assistance for employees with more than six months’ service.
College / Department Information The School of Computer and Cyber Sciences was established in 2017 with a mission to provide high‑engagement technology education and research. The School offers degrees in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, cyber operations, cybersecurity engineering, and biomedical systems engineering. Graduate programs include a Master of Science in Information Security Management, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Computer and Cyber Sciences.
