is currently seeking candidates for a Manual Gear Cutter position in Canby, OR. Our client is a well-established industry leader known for precision manufacturing, innovation, and a strong commitment to delivering the highest quality machined components. With a focus on continuous improvement, they take pride in maintaining excellence at every stage of their manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual gear cutting machines (including hobbing, shaping, or milling equipment) to produce gears according to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to ensure accurate gear dimensions and tolerances.
Select proper tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job and make necessary machine adjustments.
Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules.
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Maintain machines through routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventative maintenance.
Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, or dimensional deviations.
Accurately document production data, measurements, and any adjustments made during the process.
Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or machining coursework preferred.
Prior experience operating manual gear cutting or related machining equipment is required.
Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including overtime as needed.
