Overview The City of Fishers Community Center seeks an energetic
Sports Coordinator
who is passionate about youth development and sports, and is available to work weekday evenings (5pm-9pm) and/or weekends to join our team! This position works with the program manager to grow and enhance the sports offerings and activities at the Fishers Community Center. Responsibilities include maintaining and improving the quality, involvement, and retention of participants.
Responsibilities
Assist with the implementation, development, and monitoring of seasonal sports leagues, recreation programs, sports, summer sports camps, clinics, and outreach programs. Specific sport may vary depending on the season win which the individual is employed.
>Build relationships with program participants and create an atmosphere based on fair play that is incorporated in a manner that is both demonstrative and professional. Create teams from registrations, develop team practice and game schedules, maintain accurate records, and attend offsite sporting events.
Supervise children during games/activities to ensure they are played in a safe manner. Help to establish clear behavior expectations for all program participants and ensure that they are followed throughout the program.
Properly set-up/break down, clean up and maintain all equipment. Maintain a safe and clean environment by enforcing all safety guidelines, conducting regular equipment inspections, and reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
Provide excellent customer service to all patrons by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Solicit feedback from participants to continuously improve programs and services.
Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Ensure safety of patrons and be prepared to take charge in an emergency if necessary. Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety. Report any accidents/emergencies immediately and complete accident reports as necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma and one (1) or more years of experience managing and running adult sports leagues and being in a teaching or coaching capacity.
Must be available to work weekday evenings (5pm – 9pm) and/or weekends.
Knowledge of methods and principles in instructing individuals or groups of children, teens, or adults and the physical ability to lead and participate in a variety of youth sports activities.
Must be physically able to set up and take down a variety of sports equipment.
Able to collaboratively solve problems in a way that builds and maintains positive, productive, working relationships with members, employees, and the public.
Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license with a record that allows the ability to be insured to drive a City vehicle.
Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days. Training will be provided.
Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends and in environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.

Fishers Community Center offers free amenities to the community including a walking track, large indoor playground, and access to Sahm’s Community Café. It also has a paid membership model that allows access to 2 indoor pools (including a 2-story waterslide), 3 athletic gyms, a large fitness floor, 2 group exercise studios, 1 cycle studio, childcare, and much more. The Community Center will also feature a 3-acre Dog Park located on the campus. This position will receive a free Community Center membership.
