Responsibilities
Ensure equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment failures.
Share knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators.
Act as a subject‑matter expert in at least one equipment area (e.g., injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers).
Perform troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis, and other water filtration systems.
Work directly with Maintenance Technicians, machine operators, supervisors, and managers to resolve mechanical issues.
Develop and implement best practices aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies.
Champion continuous improvement efforts using preventative and predictive maintenance processes and assist with training in designated focus areas.
Adhere to and enforce highest safety and GMP standards plant‑wide.
Lead operators, mechanics, and supervisors on technical procedures related to high‑speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
Collaborate with plant leadership on projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of recurring problems.
Use software systems to analyze and identify issues to drive throughput performance.
Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like‑new status during planned downtime.
Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members for operating and troubleshooting procedures in bottling production areas and injection technology.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance; on‑call availability is essential for ensuring equipment and facility uptime.
Stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Must own a toolbox and basic tools.
Essential Functions
Rapid identification of machine problems to minimize downtime with root cause analysis.
Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross‑functional problems.
Transfer knowledge in the following areas of bottling production specialization: blow molding (PET processing, machine set‑up, mold changes, quality inspection), filling/capping (vitamin/can feeding, vision inspections, laser coders), labeling technology (roll‑fed/cut and stack, hot melt gluing), dry‑end packaging (case packers, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers).
Transfer knowledge in injection technology: Husky injection molding machines (hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical), auxiliary systems (resin handling, drying, dehumidification, vision inspection, conveying, cooling), mold systems, and detailed component wear troubleshooting.
Create SOPs for troubleshooting machines and upload to the BDA system; responsible for machine reliability and MTBF.
Maintain readiness to meet equipment and facility uptime requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum:
6 years experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
6 years experience in a similar position.
4 years experience managing people/projects.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
Skills with shop equipment (hydraulic/mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, power tools).
Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (calipers, dial indicators, bore and depth gauges).
Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer in a specific area.
Preferred:
10+ years experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
10+ years experience in a similar position.
6 years managing people/projects.
4 years experience in blow molding, injection molding, packaging, or beverage.
4 years experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel, or other potable bottling equipment.
1 year experience leading and developing others on equipment repair.
2 years experience creating process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives.
Fabrication skills (cutting, welding – MIG, TIG, stick).
Electrical skills (480 VAC & 24 VDC).
Repair of variable frequency drives, servo motors, controllers, communication systems, PLC input/output cards, safety modules.
