ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Under the general direction and supervision of the Superintendent or Assistant Street Superintendent, the Street Maintenance Worker performs the following tasks:
Street construction and maintenance.
Preparation of concrete streets for asphalt overlays, asphalt streets for reconstruction (mill-in-place) and all general street maintenance.
Concrete removal and replacement.
Asphalt removal and replacement.
Ditching and tile installation.
Black dirt placement and turf installation.
Storm and Sanitary Sewer construction and maintenance.
Storm/Sanitary main replacement or repair.
Manhole replacement/repair, sealing and adjustment.
Culvert adjustments or replacements.
Cleaning storm water inlets and mains.
Snow and Ice control.
Salt streets/sidewalks.
Plow streets/sidewalks.
Haul or load snow for removal.
Forestry Operations.
Trim trees.
Drop/cut/haul trees.
Chip brush and branches.
Grind stumps.
Topsoil stump holes.
Other duties as assigned.
Pothole patching.
Emergency response.
Special event set-up/take down.
Building and grounds maintenance.
Mowing and landscaping.
Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred/Optional : Prior Street maintenance experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required : Valid Class D Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must demonstrate safe working practices. Must complete First Aid/CPR, trenching/excavating, confined space training. Must have the ability to remember, understand and carry out oral and written instruction, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Must have the ability to learn from observation and demonstration.
