Overview

Provide operational and maintenance support for athletic fields, outdoor athletic facilities, and surrounding grounds. Assist with turf care, field preparation, equipment setup, and general upkeep to ensure safe, functional, and visually appealing athletic environments for practices, competitions, and special events. Support grounds supervisors and athletics facilities staff by performing routine athletic field maintenance tasks, assisting with event preparation and breakdown, and contributing to efficient daily operations and positive athletic facility presentation. Responsibilities

Athletic Grounds Maintenance and Operations Perform routine maintenance of athletic fields, including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, watering, and debris removal. Assist with athletic field preparation for practices and games, including lining fields, setting up goals, nets, fencing, and related equipment. Support basic turf care activities such as repairing divots, assisting with overseeding, and maintaining field appearance. Remove litter and debris from athletic fields, sidelines, bleachers, walkways, and surrounding exterior areas. Assist with post-event cleanup and restoration of athletic fields and outdoor facilities. Support seasonal operations such as snow and ice removal from athletic walkways, entrances, and spectator areas (seasonal). Equipment and Materials Support Safely operate and maintain basic grounds and athletic field equipment and hand tools, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, field lining equipment, and shovels, under supervision. Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and storing athletic field equipment, tools, and materials. Inspect equipment prior to use and report equipment issues, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to supervisors. Administrative and Team Support Assist with documenting completed work, field setup activities, or equipment usage as requested. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding daily assignments, schedules, and event needs. Other Duties Follow all campus and athletics safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Support special events, tournaments, seasonal field transitions, or emergency response efforts as assigned. Perform additional related duties as requested by supervisors or administrators. Education and Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University. Majoring in a related field. An interest in athletics, turf management, landscaping, facilities management, or environmental science is beneficial but not required. Experience

No prior athletic grounds or turf experience required; training will be provided. Previous outdoor work, manual labor, or athletics-related experience preferred but not required. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team. Physical/Environmental Factors

Frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 50 lbs. Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and physical labor on athletic fields and outdoor facilities. Regular exposure to inclement weather, heat, cold, noise, dust, athletic equipment, and typical outdoor working conditions. Working Hours
