Human Resources (HR) Assistant primarily provides administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of the HR department. This entry-level role is central to managing the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to payroll and benefits administration.
Core Responsibilities.
Recruitment Support:
Drafting and posting job advertisements, screening resumes, performing background and reference checks, and coordinating interview schedules between candidates and hiring managers.
Onboarding & Training:
Facilitating new hire orientation, preparing employment packets, coordinating equipment provisioning (e.g., computers, logins), and tracking completion of mandatory training sessions.
Record Maintenance:
Updating and auditing employee records in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), such as personal details, employment status, tax forms (I-9, W-4), and performance evaluations.
Compliance:
Ensuring all documentation aligns with local, state, and federal labor laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA) and maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive data.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; many modern roles prefer an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HR or Business Administration.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Soft Skills:
Communication:
Strong verbal and written skills for interacting with diverse staff and external partners.
Organization:
The ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Discretion:
A high level of integrity and professionalism when handling confident
