The Mechatronics Technician will install, maintain, and repair computer-controlled and robotic systems to ensure efficient and reliable operation of the facility equipment and processes. Responsibilities include troubleshooting problems, replacing parts, and maintaining equipment like PLCs, scanners, sensors, conveyors, sorters and actuators to reduce downtime and improve productivity.

Essential Functions Installation and Maintenance

Install, inspect, and maintain automated machinery and control systems

Plan and build a working lab for hands‑on training including conveyance, motors, PLCs, etc.

Help lead multi‑year transition/upgrade of new WCS and conveyance at both DCs

Commitment to working in a safe manner

Maintain a clean working environment

Troubleshooting and Repair

Diagnose and repair issues with automated machinery, conveyance and other facilities‑related systems through partnership with Operations Team Leaders

Monitor conveyance and scanner software to ensure proper working conditions

Demonstrate advanced‑level proficiency in troubleshooting using electrical/mechanical prints

Use electrical system knowledge and schematics to troubleshoot electrical components and circuits (connecting circuit breakers, transformers, or other components in a junction box or panel)

Testing and Calibration

Test new and existing systems, calibrate tools and equipment, and ensure machines operate at optimal efficiency and safety levels

Responsible for monthly/quarterly/yearly audits on all scanners and cameras at both DCs

Responsible for monthly audio testing within DC

Documentation

Maintain logs of equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance

Provide reports on system status in CMMS asset management systems to record equipment history and maintenance updates

Assist in creating SOPs for all automated machinery

Maintain troubleshooting guides to assist maintenance team in case of failure

Technical Support

Work with engineers and other personnel to implement new automated processes (Capex) and provide technical guidance on equipment and systems

Lead and participate in RCA (Root Cause Analysis) sessions related to mechanical failures/maintenance opportunities

Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations team to develop new reporting and help streamline data analysis

Education

Associate's Degree in Mechanical Automation Preferred

Work Experience

4-6 years in Distribution Center Conveyance Systems Required

Automation Architecture and Theory

Electrical Systems

HVAC System controls

Multiple conveyance maintenance and repair

General facility maintenance

Ability to operate CMMS systems

Asset Management systems

Ability to train Belk Maintenance technicians
