About the role | Ko te mahi nei Lifeguards are at the heart of our facilities, supporting the community to reach their health and wellbeing goals. We're more than just safety-focused - we build strong connections with our pool users and are always ready to respond in an emergency. Now's your chance to join our passionate aquatic team!
To thrive in this role, you'll:
Bring top-notch customer service skills - you care about people and want every visitor to have a fun, positive experience with their whānau and friends.
Be quick-thinking and confident in solving problems, with the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Be able to focus for long periods of time
Be a capable swimmer who can remain calm and focused under pressure.
Hold a current PLPC qualification
Community involvement matters - this could be being part of a sports team, club, school or community group, coaching or volunteering. If you're involved in something like this, make sure to tell us about it in your application.

Nau mai, tauti mai ki te whare o Parakiore; The name Parakiore has been gifted by Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga and fits perfectly as the name of the Christchurch City Council's newest facility, the Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre. Parakiore was a Ngāi Tūāhuriri hero renowned for his resilience, determination and agility.
Important parts of the process:
If your application meets the initial criteria, you will be invited to complete a swim test (this is mandatory). If you pass the swim test we will contact you to discuss the next steps in the process.
Successful candidates must complete a two-day First Aid Certificate course before commencing work with us.
Police and Health Checks: Employment is subject to passing a NZ police check and a health check.

Salary : $28.95 per hour
