Job Summary The position will work as the STEM program and grant Manager, performing outreach to K-12 schools in the region, offering STEM education programs to develop a workforce pipeline. The role will also connect current and prospective USC Salkehatchie students with STEM scholarships, internships and research programs, and assist with developing and implementing strategies related to marketing and recruitment for Salkehatchie’s STEM degree opportunities.

Minimum Requirements Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job‑related field and 4 or more years of job‑related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job‑related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Grant management and successful grant writing experience preferred.

Mechanically inclined, understanding of clean energy, robotics, electricity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effective oral and written communication skills are essential. Working knowledge of budgets, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with USC personnel and community agencies. Ability to comprehend and properly apply government and USC policies, procedures, and regulations.

Job Duties

Work with schools in the University’s service area at the K‑12 level to provide opportunities for students to engage in STEM activities, particularly at the SRS and with a focus on clean energy. This includes events such as Nuclear Science Week, Aviation Camp, and University of Possibilities events; collaborate with area schools and organizations (e.g., DIG) to plan targeted events and develop new programs such as STEM summer camps and robotics competitions.

Develop an internship program that identifies opportunities for university students to gain industry experience in the service area, assist students in applying for scholarships and research programs, and develop marketing and recruiting strategies for Salkehatchie’s STEM degrees and industry partnerships.

Oversee all aspects of the DRIVES grant and the WORK I & WORC II grants, including application, reporting, assessment, and budgeting; conduct grant writing to sustain the program.
