Pension Benefit Accounting Officer
Salary: $5,266.00 - $6,591.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Financial Accountant II, the incumbent independently performs analysis of the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) overpayment accounts receivables and payable financial records. Performs monthly reconciliations for general ledger accounts, analyzes monthly balances, provides explanations of account fluctuations, researches inaccuracies, resolves reconciling items, validates receivables in myCalPERS and PeopleSoft, prepares manual claim schedules, posts journal entries in PeopleSoft, and documents participant notes in myCalPERS.

ACCOUNTING OFFICER (SPECIALIST) classification
Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification
Eligible for telework: hybrid schedule (up to two remote days per week)
Not eligible for visa sponsorship
Financial & Technical Skills
Processing, reviewing, analyzing, researching, reconciling, and reporting general ledger and fund financial data
Experience with PeopleSoft and myCalPERS systems
Excel skills – intermediate to advanced desirable
Additional Qualifications Strong analytical skills; ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment; knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Public Employee Retirement Law, State Administrative Manual, and Government Accounting Standards Board pronouncements.
