Under the general direction of the Financial Management Bureau’s Assistant Bureau Director, the Administrator III serves as the Fiscal Officer and Section Manager of the Franchise Tax Board’s Accounting Section. The incumbent oversees accounting standards and practices, complies with all relevant state and local laws and regulations, tracks revenue and expenditures, and prepares financial reports. The role includes participation in governance bodies, steering committees, enterprise teams, and external workgroups, and involves partnering with stakeholders to understand fiscal environments, identify needs and concerns, and assess potential impacts to the department, programs, and policies.
Working Conditions
Eligible for limited remote work within California, subject to departmental guidelines and operational needs. Two days per week in‑office are required for all positions.
Not eligible for visa sponsorship; applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without a visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
Oversee accounting standards, policies, and procedures for the Accounting Section.
Ensure compliance with state and local laws, regulations, and FTB policies.
Track revenue and expenditures and prepare financial reports.
Participate in governance bodies, steering committees, and enterprise teams.
Partner with stakeholders to understand fiscal environments and assess impacts on programs and policies.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of California State Fund Accounting and the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
Strong leadership and staff development skills to inspire, motivate, mentor, and build productive teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff in highly sensitive programs.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
Experience working with control agencies to meet departmental objectives.
Experience with diverse programs and positions that enhance understanding of the department and enterprise.
Demonstrated performance encouraging positive relationships and high job satisfaction.
