CNC Lathe Setup Operator

Job Description Vector's client in Painesville, OH, is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Operator/Setup Technician to join a clean, organized, and precision-driven machine shop supporting the production of commercial jet and military aerospace components. This role works closely with Engineering and Quality teams to manufacture tight-tolerance parts in a regulated aerospace environment.
Shift: 1st Shift 10-hour shift, of which 2 hrs will be paid at OT rate. OT is paid after working 8 hours each day. Plus 1/2 days on Saturdays. Pay is dependent upon experience.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate Mazak CNC lathes, including twin spindle machines with X & Y milling and drilling capabilities.
Perform complete setups including tooling, offsets, and program adjustments.
Read and interpret GD&T blueprints and engineering drawings.
Make in-process adjustments to maintain tight tolerances.
Conduct tool changes, offset adjustments, and minor troubleshooting.
Work collaboratively with Engineers and Quality personnel to ensure part compliance.
Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Support high-volume production with significant overtime availability.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of CNC Lathe setup and operation experience.
Hands‑on experience with Mazak machines (twin spindle preferred).
Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
Proven ability to hold tight tolerances consistently.
Experience with offsets, tooling, and tool changes.
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace manufacturing experience.
Familiarity with military or commercial jet components.
Experience working directly with Engineering teams.
Exposure to AS9100 or similar quality system.
