Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager

Our client is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since their company began in the 1970’s, our client pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to our client’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager Job Type: Full-time; On-site
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall management and technical leadership of the EH&S functions in the Conway, SC Metglas facility and provide technical assistance to overseas plants.
Acts independently, with administrative and fiscal direction from the HR Manager, President, and Operations Manager.
Develops, recommends and implements practical functional approaches to resolve important EH&S issues in support of business unit strategies for achieving customer satisfaction and assuring regulatory and policy compliance.
Assures integration of EH&S requirements with company vision and values.
Actively supports growth through permitting processes.
Works with other functional leaders to integrate EH&S into other functional efforts.
Actively leads employee teams for continuous improvement of EH&S goals.
Conducts Accident/Incident/Injury investigations.
Creates PowerPoint presentations for employees, managers, corporate, and overseas divisions, and presents the information.
Conducts monthly safety meetings with all staff (~200 employees).
Leads Safety Committee and facilitates monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
Storm water testing, tracking, reporting, handling experience preferred.
Involved with Maintenance Department in vendor management regarding PPE, cameras, gates/security, parking lot regulations, etc.)
Ability during the evening and other times as needed to be part of corporate and overseas meetings/calls.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience:
5+ years demonstrated progressive experience in either Health, Safety and/or Environmental, and in a manufacturing environment.
Worked in manufacturing companies of 150+ employees.
Knowledge of managing and resolving workers compensation cases.
Proven ability to drive safety culture and deployment of behavioral safety programs.
Possess a BS degree in either safety engineering, environmental, industrial hygiene or related science.
Has knowledge of health, safety and environmental theories, processes, practices, and regulations.
Ability to communicate and implement various EH&S initiatives and issues at various levels of the organization.
Work cross-functionally with Quality to streamline shared processes and align objectives for improved operational performance.
Ability to recognize strategic opportunities and focus EH&S resources to meet critical business needs.
Understanding of organizational dynamics and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Understanding of workers compensation strategies.
Familiarity and working knowledge of TSCA requirements and experience in maintaining SDS’s.
Strong program and budget management skills.
Develops and administers the site’s Hearing Conservation Program, including noise monitoring, employee training, and audiometric testing compliance.
Experienced in environmental compliance including RCRA, Form R reporting, DOT Hazmat, Tier II reporting, and Title V air permitting.
Skilled in OSHA compliance programs such as HAZWOPER, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and respiratory protection and fit testing.
Knowledgeable in industrial hygiene monitoring and air sampling. Can learn onsite and removed sound survey
Knowledgeable in chemical and product compliance standards, including REACH and RoHS.
Demonstrated decision making skills in a Total quality environment using six sigma tools preferred.
Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. by yourself.
On-call availability on off hours (nights, overnights, weekends, holidays) by phone and also able to come into plant if/when/as needed.
