Position Overview The Warehouse Lead is a front-line supervisory role responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient warehouse operations in support of production and customer shipments. This role leads day-to-day pick/pack/ship and receiving activities, enforces safety and quality standards, oversees inventory accuracy in SAP/LFS, and serves as the primary coach and escalation point for warehouse operators.
Primary Responsibilities Operations & Order Fulfillment
Lead and coordinate daily warehouse workflows including picking, checking, packing, staging, loading, and unloading to meet production and shipping schedules.
Fulfil customer orders by accurately selecting products per pick tickets; for LTL shipments arrange orders on pallets, record bag/lot numbers, and apply required labels.
Stage and prepare shipments; verify compliance with pick ticket specifications and shipping standards before dispatch.
Inventory Management & Systems
Accurately identify, label, and store raw materials, supplies, and finished goods according to procedures.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation of inventory transactions in SAP/LFS and other warehouse systems.
Perform cycle counts, support periodic physical inventories, and reconcile discrepancies; report inventory variances to supervisors.
Receiving & Material Handling
Support plant operations for raw material receipts, staging, and storage to ensure timely availability of materials for production.
Safely operate material handling equipment (forklifts, electric walkies, pallet jacks) and oversee equipment use by staff.
Load/unload trucks and containers carefully; coordinate with carriers and receiving to minimize delays and damage.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
Inspect stored inventory; immediately report discrepancies, damages, or nonconformities to Warehouse Supervisor.
Maintain clean, organized work areas consistent with 5S, company safety policies and safe material handling practices.
People Leadership, Coaching & Development
Onboard, train, and develop warehouse staff through hands‑on coaching and documentation of training progress.
Act as the primary shift coach and go-to resource for warehouse operators—provide real-time feedback, mentoring, and direction to resolve operational issues.
Monitor team performance, balance workloads, and support supervisors with performance appraisals, corrective actions, and succession planning.
Identify process inefficiencies, safety risks, and opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase throughput.
Implement and sustain process improvements and standard work; support Lean/CI initiatives as assigned.
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, complete required logs and reports, and communicate status to supervisors and stakeholders.
Support scheduling, shift handovers, and coordination with production, quality, and logistics teams.
Perform other duties as assigned and adapt responsibilities to changing business needs.
Education/Experience/Qualifications Preferred:
High school degree, GED, or equivalent
Required:
Ability to learn and use SAP software for shipping and inventory documentation and processes.
PC proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Lotus Notes, and PowerPoint.
