The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Responsibilities
Performing preventive and routine corrective maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
Maintaining, repairing, installing, and altering wiring, electrical devices, machinery, and equipment associated with the various building systems within a correctional institution.
Locating and diagnosing troubles occurring in institutional electrical systems and making necessary repairs. This includes measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembling, and installing conduit, drawing wire through conduit, splicing, soldering, and application of friction tape, installing and connecting equipment to the wiring system and operating or using all test equipment and tools associated with the electrical trade.
Cross training, assisting with and/or performing other maintenance related tasks, and following oral/written instructions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences
Experience with the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade.

Minimum Education and Experience
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
