Job Description and Duties Please see attached duty statement. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.
Working Conditions This position requires a combination of telework and in‑office work, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment and report to the office as required.

Desirable Qualifications
Experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, and fiscal management.
Experience overseeing accurate and timely month‑end and year‑end closing financial activities.
Experience managing or leading a team.
Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards, including GAAP, SAM, UCM, and Government Code.
Strong collaboration and clear communication abilities across internal teams and external control agencies and auditors.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, and problem areas in accounting and financial operations.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Access, Teams, Power BI, etc.) and automated accounting systems.

Statement of Qualifications A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted with the State Application (STD 678). The SOQ should be typed, no more than two pages in length, Arial font size 12 pt. It must address the following prompts:
Describe your ability to manage a critical workload, meet deadlines, and handle stressful situations. Provide specific examples.
Describe how you have encouraged collaboration and communication between your team, other accounting units, and other departments to ensure everyone is working toward the State and CDCR’s mission and goals.
Outline your approach for identifying gaps in accounting processes or systems and describe how you resolve them. Provide specific examples.
