Location Lexington, KY

Working Hours Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Remote

Salary $17.50–$27.31 per hour

Job Summary Under the direction of the Assistant Director and Follow‑up Leadership Team, the Patient Financial Services Representative – Follow‑up is responsible for collecting and resolving inpatient and outpatient accounts. This spans government, commercial and/or managed care payers. The representative provides customer service to patients and families to help ensure that UKHC collects sufficient cash necessary to support healthcare operations, while participating in unit and enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Collect and resolve inpatient and outpatient accounts, including governmental, commercial and managed care payers.

Provide excellent customer service to patients and families.

Use hospital and departmental policies and procedures to accomplish job duties.

Maintain confidentiality, prioritize and manage work effectively, and complete work with detail and accuracy.

Perform work in a sedentary position and effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Customer service oriented.

In‑depth HIPAA knowledge.

Strong multi‑tasking, accuracy and attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Time management, critical thinking, follow‑through, planning and organizational skills.

High respect for confidentiality.

Required Education AA

Required Experience 1 year

Preferred Education / Experience Associates degree and 3–4 years of accounting, insurance claims and billing, medical office and/or clerical work. Previous experience with patient accounts, HIPAA highly preferred.
