Responsibilities Come and join the Boss Shop Team! The Shop Diesel Mechanic/Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs promptly and professionally, investing in ongoing training, and maintaining a clean shop environment.
Essential Job Duties/Functions
Perform PMs and oil changes
Grease trucks and trailers
Perform tire services
Perform CSA/DOT inspections
Perform service calls and night call‑outs
Conduct intermediate to advanced electrical repairs and diagnose failures
Complete intermediate to advanced wheel‑end repairs (e.g., S‑cam/bushing replacement, spindle repairs, race and bearing replacement, wheel seals)
Perform intermediate air system repairs (basics diagnostics, tank replacement, air bags, leveling valves)
Conduct basic HVAC repair (evacuate & recharge, verify cause of failure)
Complete basic coolant repairs (thermostat, water pump, hoses, fittings, radiator)
Perform basic welding
Conduct basic starting/charging diagnostics (batteries, alternators, starters)
Complete basic engine repair (belts, tensioners, pulleys)
Perform basic steering/suspension work (shocks, reservoirs, filters, alignment)
Perform basic drivetrain and transmission repairs (clutch adjustments, U‑joints, carrier bearings)
Maintain cleanliness of shop and keep free of clutter
Ensure all service equipment is in good working order and properly repaired when needed
Ensure all parts, tires, etc., are properly put away
Complete work orders with necessary customer information, labor performed, parts used, and warranty details
Ensure total customer satisfaction and the integrity of Bosselman
Practice and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
Complete OSHA Skills Demonstration within first week of employment
Stay current on all LMS training
Provide friendly and competent customer service
Report for work in a timely manner when scheduled
Additional Job Duties
Assist in other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Qualifications Education and/or Experience (certs or licenses needed)
Tire Service Certified by TIA within 18 months of employment
Air Brake Certification
DOT Medical Card required at Boss Shops
Minimum two years experience as a diesel technician
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and insurability to drive
Complete brake training
Complete wheel seal trainingAbility to attend HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training
Ability to obtain ASE, DOT, TIA, and other certifications
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed
Reliable transportation and phone
Ability to communicate in English
Willingness to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service
Team player, able to work cooperatively with other team members
Must show proficiencies required by Tech I training program
Physical Requirements The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 lbs, frequently stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, talk, hear, occasionally sit or climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl while performing duties.
