Location: 23 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH 03305

Pay Range: $17.81/hr - $23.39/hr (base). Trainee Status: $17.19/hr.

SUMMARY Administers a variety of tests and driving skills examinations to applicants to ensure that only qualified individuals are issued operator driver licenses and motorcycle driver licenses. Reviews applicant information for consistency with applicable motor vehicle laws and administrative rules, ensuring eligibility for driver licenses and non-driver identification cards.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience, and vice versa.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high school in instruction, training, customer service, driving work, or related field.

Valid driver's license.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Driving record must be free of disqualifying violations.

Must undergo fingerprint-based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check.

Must be willing to attend additional training sessions.

Must be able to travel throughout the state and work at various satellite offices and testing locations, including outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Must be willing to wear a seatbelt during all driving skills examinations.

May be required to work a flexible schedule including early morning, evening, and/or weekend hours.

TRAINEE OPTION Candidates with an equivalent combination of 1+ years of relevant education and experience after high school may be considered and hired in trainee status.

AFTER-HIRE REQUIREMENTS Complete intensive multi-week training program. Weekly evaluations ensure competency in motor vehicle systems, road examinations, and computer systems. Employment contingent upon completion within first six months.

Must attend Safe Driving Program within 60 days and remain current. Must complete AAMVA Driver Licensing Examiner Certification Program within 12 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide first-rate customer service by administering driving skills examinations on applicant on and off road performance tests in automobiles and motorcycles.

Qualify or disqualify applicants based on results, record pertinent information, and submit reports.

Ensure knowledge examination completion and understanding of New Hampshire motor vehicle laws before administering driving skills examination.

Verify vision screening completion before driver skills exam.

Assist counter personnel with applicant questions and documentation review.

Answer public questions at the counter and on the phone regarding motor vehicle laws, driver licensing, and procedures.

Support clerks by operating DRM computer hardware/software, entering applicant data, capturing signatures and images.

Maintain assigned office, check equipment operation, inventory, and security of applications and manuals.

Notify management of facility issues.
