Position Summary
The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs across multiple locations within the assigned region. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture. The Regional Safety Manager conducts audits, risk assessments, and training to minimize workplace hazards and prevent incidents. Acting as a strategic partner, this position collaborates with site leadership to drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
Primary Responsibilities
Travel to each location within the assigned region to conduct and document monthly, in-person safety meetings
Serve as the first point of contact for all reported safety incidents and accidents within assigned regions
Respond to accident scenes when required
Investigate and manage local accidents and minor or non-reportable damage claims
Maintain regional claim and safety files within company SharePoint, including documentation for accidents, incidents, and damage claims
Report not-at-fault claims to the applicable auto liability carrier (OV insurance)
Submit damage invoices to responsible third-party insurers
Submit report-only claims to National Interstate when authorized by the VP of Safety and National Safety Director
Follow up with local managers to ensure damage reports are completed and corrective actions are implemented
Work with the National Training Director and Training Department on driver safety training
Support compliance and onboarding for newly acquired locations
Manage minor and non-reportable damage claims independently within assigned regions
Submit incident summaries, documentation, and meeting records to the National Safety Director within established timeframes
Ensure monthly safety meetings are completed, documented, and conducted in person at each assigned location
Ensure timely and accurate incident documentation and reporting
Escalate serious incidents to the National Safety Director without delay
Coordinate with the Safety Compliance Coordinator on regulatory and DQ compliance needs
Coordinate with the Safety Admin on Samsara data, reporting, and incentive tracking
Serve as a safety advisor to regional operations leadership
Support the National Safety Director and VP of Safety during escalations as requested
Acknowledge that all Quick Strike actions, including immediate intervention or high-severity escalation, are conducted exclusively by the VP of Safety and the National Safety Director
Other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field or a combination of experience and education.
Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or OSHA credentials preferred.
CDL Class A is preferred.
Experience
5+ years of safety management experience, preferably in a multi-site or regional capacity.
Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT rules, regulations, and policies.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and risk management practices.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven ability to develop and implement safety programs and conduct audits.
Skills
Excellent leadership and communication skills to influence safety culture across multiple locations.
Physical Requirements
Capability to walk, stand, and climb stairs during facility inspections.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to travel 60–70 % of the time.
Occasionally lift or move equipment/materials up to 25 lbs.
Comfortable working in varied environments (manufacturing floors, outdoor sites, etc.).
Ability to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during site visits if required.
