Responsibilities

Clinical Care

The CRNA implements accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care.

Professional Skill

Understands physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures; monitors vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry during anesthesia per ASA guidelines.

Information Management

Ensures appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements; protects all forms of information from unauthorized access or disclosure.

Quality Management

Demonstrates a high standard of morality, ethics, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.

Professional Development

Engages in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.

Qualifications Education

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist – Completion of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.

Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in Connecticut.

Experience

Prefer clinical working experience as a CRNA within the relevant specialty; none required.

APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process.

Evidence of current competence via reference letters from physicians or other practitioners.

Licensure

AANA Certification.

State of CT RN and APRN license.

ACLS, DEA registration, and State of CT controlled‑substance registration.

Special Skills

Sharp concentration, focus, and calm under stressful conditions.

Effective communication with surgeons, surgical support team, patients, and families.

Immediate and responsive anesthetic patient management; flexibility and adaptability.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and move patients between locations.

Observation, motor function, and communication skills suited for anesthesia settings.

Capacity to manage monitoring alarms and equipment.

Schedule Requirements Availability for off‑shifts, weekends, and holidays as part of a restricted in‑house call rotation; willingness to respond to emergency calls and provide anesthesia services on site; 90‑day notice required when transitioning or resigning from the call team.
