About the Facility Harnett Correctional Institution houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium‑custody environment.
Job Overview Provide comprehensive, complex professional nursing care to individuals and families while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. The role includes primary, preventative, and rehabilitative care and direct supervision of licensed and unlicensed nursing staff under a Nurse Supervisor’s general supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Documented knowledge of basic nursing principles and techniques including physical assessments, clinical judgments, treatment planning, supervisory roles, and evaluations.
Lead and manage clinical interventions, including sick call assessment.
Assist physicians, carry out orders, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
Respond to emergencies and facilitate mental, dental, and other healthcare services.
Prepare and administer medications, monitor communicable diseases, counsel on diet, medications, and treatment regimens.
Update physical examinations, teach, delegate to or supervise other personnel in implementing the treatment regimen.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Rotation/supervisor responsibilities.
Clinical responsibility covering the entire spectrum of assessment and intervention necessary to maintain maximum function and promote well‑being.
Experience facilitating mental and dental healthcare.
Preparedness in medication preparation and administration.
Monitoring communicable diseases.
Strong counseling skills regarding compliance with diet, medications, and treatment regimens.
Ability to update physical examinations and teach others.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina.
Minimum one year of nursing experience.
Superior proficiency in nursing assessment, intervention, and care planning.
Ability to supervise staff and perform quality evaluation.
Eligibility for a $7,500 sign‑on bonus: not worked as a probationary, permanent, or time‑limited employee in the last 12 months under the State Human Resources Act.
