Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital provides specialized care for children and adolescents diagnosed with mental illness. We are looking for a positive and energetic Registered Nurse who has an interest in helping children with mental illness maximize their potential.

Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital uses the Sanctuary Model to guide our interactions with teammates and the care we provide to our consumers in order to promote healing, safety, and nonviolence. The Foundation of Sanctuary consists of the Four Pillars: (1) Trauma Theory, (2) Seven Commitments, (3) S.E.L.F. (Safety, Emotion, Loss, and Future), and (4) Sanctuary Tool Kit.

Responsibilities

Review medical records, observe the provision of medical care to clients, coordinate assessments from other disciplines, and participate in incident reporting, investigation, and discharge planning within a hospital setting.

Oversee and review the work and documentation of LPNs, nursing assistants, and other technical personnel.

Provide public health services to community members, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and/or case management, or oversee other RN’s during a shift.

Specialize in quality improvement activities such as analyzing data and trends of specific health indicators to recommend measures for improvement.

Typical Qualifications

Licensure as a Registered Nurse and 0–3 years of experience as a registered nurse.

Current license to practice as an RN in the State of Missouri or in accordance with Missouri’s Nurse Licensure Compact at the time of appointment.

Knowledge of current professional nursing theory, practices, and standards.

Ability to administer detailed therapeutic prescriptions under general professional supervision.

Ability to supervise, evaluate, and instruct professional and paraprofessional nursing staff.
