Job Summary
The Property Accountant is responsible for accurately reporting tenant payments received and due while also performing account analysis and reconciliation. Reporting to the Controller, Property Management, the Property Accountant ensures that properties are tax and GAAP compliant and provides financial insights to management on the property’s financial health and profitability. Summary of Responsibilities
Compile and analyze financial information for month-end and year-end close, including preparing supporting schedules and work papers. Review monthly reporting packages for 10-15 properties, including financial statements and bank reconciliations. Prepare/review journal entries and ensure the general ledger activity is accurate and complete. Collaborate with property managers and regional leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Support accounts payable and vendor functions. Work with Property Management Companies and Asset Management teams to on-board new properties. Act as liaison to external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data and information as requested, and answering questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner. Complete various financial, accounting, and other reports and analysis, and perform other duties as assigned or as necessary. Summary of Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 3+ years of Property Management Experience (preferred) or equivalent Experience with Yardi (preferred but not required) Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts and theories Understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes MS Office advanced computer skills. Excel intermediate to advanced level Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills Core Values
