The Pet Doctor is a two‑doctor general practice, small animal & some exotics veterinary hospital. We offer a wide range of services to provide the best care for our patients, including Preventative Care, Urgent Care & Emergency Services, Digital Radiology, High Speed Dentistry, Ultrasound, Laser Therapy, In‑House Laboratory and Dental Imaging. As pet owners ourselves, we know firsthand how important a pet is to their family! With more than 30 years proudly serving the veterinary needs of pets and owners in our community, our clients’ pets are family to us as well.
Job Overview We are looking to add a passionate and motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to our dedicated medical care team. Hours of operation are: Monday & Tuesday 8 am–8 pm; Wednesday & Thursday 9 am–7 pm; Friday 8 am–8 pm; Saturday 9 am–4 pm (boarding pickup). We are closed on Sundays.
Responsibilities
Animal restraint and triage of incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging, including radiographic positioning and image capture (dental radiography is a plus)
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance; anesthetic management
Maintain safety and cleanliness; withstand unpleasant odors, noises, bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases
Assist in anesthetic administration and surgical monitoring
Qualifications
Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license (required); 1+ year professional experience preferred
Consistent punctuality and reliability in scheduled shifts
Some Saturday availability
Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
Expertise in safe and low‑stress animal restraint techniques
Proficiency in sample collection methods (blood, urine, fecal, skin specimens)
Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with exposure to animal‑related hazards
Additional Information Pay range: $24–$28 per hour, dependent on experience. Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, vision, liability, 401k with matching, life & supplemental insurance, HSA, FSA, employee assistance program, paid vacation and sick time for all employees, paid bereavement, paid parental leave, a continuing education allowance, tuition assistance, and partnership opportunities through Penn Foster.
