Inventory Specialist
– Walgreens (Charlotte, NC)
Position available; this role will remain open until filled.
Base Pay Range $17.00/hr – $20.00/hr
Responsibilities
Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store, including front‑end and pharmacy.
Support pharmacy inventory management activities: receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
Champion On‑Shelf Availability, ensuring accurate receiving, counting, pricing, returns, and integrity of planograms.
Validate the accuracy of planograms and ensure all in‑store inventory processes comply with policies.
Review and coordinate the proper use of reports and system applications that impact front‑end and pharmacy on‑hand balances and pricing.
Execute and maintain front‑end and pharmacy asset‑protection techniques, filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods, including prescription drugs.
In assigned stores, open and close the store in the absence of store management, performing required system start‑ups, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities, and ensuring the floor and stockroom are ready for business.
Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
Model and share customer service best practices with team members, demonstrating courtesy, proactive help, and satisfaction focus.
Execute and coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including receiving, ordering, and scanning deliveries.
Scan and mark vendor deliveries received; contact vendors for undelivered items and open tickets to correct inaccurate orders.
Verify and post all pharmacy shipments; complete or verify postings of all pharmacy orders, including ABC prescription, OTC, secondary vendor, flu, and dropship orders.
Complete On‑Shelf Availability (OSA) end‑to‑end processes, executing disposals, call‑ins, and vendor returns before expiration, and manage scan‑out and return activities across departments.
Under pharmacist supervision, complete pharmacy inventory activities: recalls, hazardous waste, vendor returns, non‑controlled, damaged salvage, and excess inventory returns or inter‑store transfers.
Execute all pricing activities: price changes, markdowns, and deletes; maintain basic department pricing, daily price changes, and regulatory pricing tasks.
Support front‑end and pharmacy ordering, identifying excess orders and maintaining consigned inventory as required.
Update all designated pull & quarantine item on‑hands and place them in the designated holding area.
Maintain accurate inventory counts across all departments and the stockroom.
Maintain accurate inventory counts within pharmacy and complete pharmacy smart counts.
Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
Assist in maintaining inventory records, receiving and posting all products and retaining all invoices, receipts, and return authorizations.
Prepare for physical inventory and support physical inventory day activities, including floor, stockroom, and pharmacy preparation and third‑party auditing.
Support keeping all counters and shelves well merchandised and clean.
Be knowledgeable of all store systems and equipment.
Assist and coach the store team on package delivery activities, scanning in and out of packages, completing all daily inventory functions, and managing package returns.
Support execution of the Pickup Program and register all related sales at the POS, completing product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to safe, and providing change as requested.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete any additional activities and tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Attend company‑based trainings for continuous development and complete all e‑learning modules, including safety training requirements.
Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state.
Communications
Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members, coaching and developing other capabilities with inventory systems; communicate assigned tasks and report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
Basic Qualifications
Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
“Achieving expectations” rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months (internal candidates only).
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi‑task and manage execution.
Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
