Job Summary The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. This role requires a deep knowledge of each product area, the ability to promote and sell merchandise, and a dedication to providing outstanding customer service. The Manager in Training will assume supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and will be trained on all Store Manager responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
Consult with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to develop action plans for sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are met.
Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained on the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell Hibbett services and merchandise.
Practice and uphold all Hibbett policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, performing hiring, training, scheduling, and problem resolution as required.
Qualifications
Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
