Job Summary
To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach also demonstrates socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, confidence, and pride of accomplishment for student athletes. Continuous learning through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation is required.
Essential Functions
Organize and supervise the entire sports program.
Enjoy the sport and working with this age level.
Teach and demonstrate skill development and advanced technique.
Assist in coordinating and implementing an off‑season program.
Collaborate with local recreation programs to increase participation at lower levels and in the high‑school program.
Serve as a positive role model.
Maintain reliable work attendance.
Qualifications
Coaching endorsement or certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies.
Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
Knowledge of existing state and league regulations; ability to implement consistently and interpret them for staff.
Good communication skills.
Understanding of proper administrative line of command and appropriate referral of requests or grievances through proper channels.
Awareness of all relevant public, staff, and departmental meetings requiring attendance.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and sporting events as required.
Physical Requirements
Job allows for varying degrees of mobility, flexibility, and occasional physical activity such as lifting up to 25 pounds and operating a motor vehicle as needed.
Working Conditions
Working times may include district office hours, evenings during the season, indoor or outdoor venue settings, and occasional weekends.
