Responsibilities Support and empower first‑generation college students through a variety of academic and co‑curricular programs sponsored by FirstGen@UVM. Design events and workshops aimed at helping students succeed academically and personally, and provide direct consultation and guidance, connecting students to campus resources. Provide support and information as students navigate complex systems and often unwritten rules of campus life.

Develop and implement programs supporting students as they transition into UVM during their first year.

Supervise and train student staff, promote leadership opportunities, and manage communication and outreach to ensure First‑Gen program visibility and engagement.

Work closely with the Scholars Team, campus and community partners to share expertise, leverage shared resources and align program goals and outcomes.

Support university initiatives by contributing to committee work and professional development through the Center for Academic Success (CFAS).

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Education, Social Work, Psychology and a minimum of two years of experience with delivering successful programs or any equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Understanding the first‑generation student experience.

Familiarity with program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Demonstrated commitment to intercultural excellence.

Anticipated Pay Range $55,000–$57,000

Special Conditions

Weekend work required.

A probationary period may be required.

Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non‑exempt position, may result in overtime).

Background check required for this position.
