Job Type:
Temporary – Adjuncts
Basic Function Provide instruction in a full range of French courses, including Elementary French and Intermediate French, and other courses as needed. Assignment may include teaching at other campus sites, day, evening or weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and multiple teaching methodologies.
Representative Duties
Teach French across a variety of levels and modalities.
Participate in student recruitment and articulation of programs.
Maintain subject‑matter currency and develop curriculum.
Utilize computer and multimedia technology in teaching.
Assess student learning outcomes and program level outcomes.
Collaboration with department, college and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Work effectively with colleagues and students of diverse backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in French, or
Bachelor’s in French and a Master’s in another language or in linguistics, or
Equivalent educational or professional experience (submit an Application for Equivalence form).
Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students.
Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406).
Knowledge & Abilities
Work effectively with colleagues and students.
Develop curriculum delivered via different modalities.
Participate in recruitment and articulation activities.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Maintain subject‑matter currency.
Assess student learning outcomes.
Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies.
Commitment to the California community‑college mission.
