Patient Access Representative I — Part Time — Days — Hackettstown Medical Center

Salary Range:
$18.50/hr – $27.58/hr
Job Description Responsible for patient‑facing registration and other associated tasks such as information collection, validation, and requisitioning of orders and services. Participates in insurance‑related tasks including verification, collection of co‑payments, and associated paperwork. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and protocols. Acts as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and other stakeholders for all post‑care matters related to account resolution.
Principal Accountabilities
Serve as the initial point of contact within the health system.
Secure accurate patient information.
Interpret and communicate patient responsibility.
Ensure accurate patient identification for financial and operational success.
Greet customers with a smile and address them by name in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
Attempt to resolve customer questions and concerns.
Adapt to changes in the work environment.
Meet shift expectations.
Handle challenging customers.
Obtain and verify patient information for registration.
Maintain contact with third‑party payers to determine reasons for outstanding claims and facilitate speedy payment.
Request payment of financial dues from patients or guarantors.
Obtain federally required and hospital‑related consents in a timely manner.
Reconcile daily bank bags; post dues collected and data entry or charge codes within the financial system.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and work in various patient settings and locations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Schedule
Part‑time, days
6:30 am – 2:30 pm
Every other weekend
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift more than 25 lb if needed.
Preferred
Customer service experience.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably EPIC.
Minimum of 1 + year(s) experience in Patient Access, Medical Office, Health Insurance or related area.
