Position Overview
Retail & Concessions Supervisor 00499 is a full‑time, non‑exempt position located in Newport News, Virginia. The Supervisor assists the Manager and Assistant Manager in running a highly successful coffee/sandwich café and supervises all sport concession events and other events across campus.
Responsibilities
Assist Manager and Assistant Manager in operations of coffee/sandwich café.
Supervise staff with minimal oversight for sport concession events, outside field rentals and other non‑sporting events.
Adhere to all health standards set by the State of Virginia and local authorities.
Make quick and competent decisions without manager approval.
Manage inventory to keep food costs within department guidelines and reconcile daily deposits with high accuracy.
Multitask during simultaneous events.
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience working in food service industry, supervisory experience, cash handling, experience using spreadsheets and word processing software, previous concessions experience and previous experience working in an upscale coffee and/or sandwich café.
Additional Consideration Cash handling experience, experience using spreadsheet and word processing software, previous food service experience working in college/university setting, previous concessions experience, previous experience working in an upscale coffee and/or sandwich café.
Salary Information Starting at $32,672, commensurate with education and experience.
