About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its nonprofit science center, which is dedicated to inspiring and educating learners of all ages about the Universe and planet Earth. The CEO will be responsible for shaping and executing the organization's vision for the future, with a focus on reimagining the science center experience and community engagement. This includes a commitment to the organization's legacy while also innovating to meet the needs of future generations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors to think boldly and creatively about the institution's future, and will be instrumental in the development of a workforce pipeline into the aerospace and technology sectors.

Candidates for the CEO position should have a proven track record of progressive leadership and management experience, with a strong understanding of how to navigate a fast-changing operating environment. Experience in fostering a nimble organizational culture, operating a financially sustainable organization, and building effective teams and systems is essential. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit fundraising and a history of building durable relationships with a range of stakeholders. While not required to reside in the Bay Area, the ability to quickly assimilate into the community and navigate a complex urban environment is crucial. The role demands a leader who is adept at making high-level decisions and implementing best practices, with a focus on formal or informal education, workforce development, and lifelong learning.
