Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Special Education teaching position is available for the 2025-2026 school year at an elementary school setting in Sumter, SC. This role focuses primarily on supporting students with developmental delays and mild intellectual disabilities within behaviorally complex classroom environments. The contract runs from November 17, 2025, through May 22, 2026. Key Responsibilities: Deliver instruction to a class of 10 students in grades 3rd through 5th with mild intellectual disability (MIMD). Manage a behaviorally challenging classroom, utilizing effective de-escalation techniques. Collaborate with paraprofessionals and participate in monthly special education program director meetings. Engage in professional learning communities with general education teachers twice weekly. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with educational standards. Support additional special education programs as needed, including developmentally delayed kindergarten and moderate classes. Preferred Qualifications: Active South Carolina teaching certification with a multi-category endorsement in special education. Experience in special education, particularly working with MIMD and behaviorally challenged students. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. Location: Onsite position in Sumter, South Carolina, serving multiple elementary schools.
