Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time special education teaching position offers an engaging opportunity to support K-2 students in a dynamic classroom setting. The role is a contract position for the full school year, providing an excellent chance to contribute meaningfully to the educational development of young learners with diverse needs. Located in Waterbury, CT, this position focuses on a small classroom of up to 10 students, ensuring personalized attention and tailored instruction. The classroom team includes paraprofessionals and licensed behavior specialists (BCBAs and RBTs), fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and proficiency in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques are highly desired to address individual challenges effectively, including managing occasional elopement behaviors. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to K-2 students unique learning goals Utilize Autism and ABA expertise to create positive behavioral interventions and support strategies Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, BCBAs, and RBTs to deliver cohesive instruction and behavioral support Monitor student progress, adapting instruction as needed to meet developmental needs Maintain clear communication with families and school staff regarding student performance and needs Foster an inclusive, nurturing classroom atmosphere to promote social, emotional, and academic growth Qualifications: Valid special education teaching certification Experience working with young children with autism and familiarity with ABA methods Strong classroom management skills, particularly in behavior interventions related to elopement Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment This contract role lasts the full school year and is ideal for educators passionate about making a positive impact on early learners with special needs.
