Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for the full school year at a K-2 classroom in Ansonia, CT. This role is designed for a dedicated educator with experience in Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support a classroom of up to 10 students. The position operates under a contract for the current school year and offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a team of paraprofessionals and Behavioral Certified Board Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with Autism and other special needs in a small K-2 classroom setting. Collaborate closely with paras, BCBAs, and RBTs to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans. Manage and minimize elopement behaviors using evidence-based ABA strategies. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly to maximize learning outcomes. Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families and the educational team. Qualifications and Experience: Certified Special Education Teacher with valid state credential. Proven experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Strong knowledge and application of ABA principles and techniques. Ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively with a maximum of 10 students. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams.
