Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, a Sex Offender Agent Trainee is expected to understand the sex offender conditions, laws, restrictions, and forms associated with the program. The trainee monitors and documents enforcement of non‑sex offender supervision, comprehends South Carolina Sex Offender Registry requirements and proximity limitations, and applies treatment processes and digital media. The agent identifies red‑flag reoffending behaviors and applies knowledge of various treatment methods to monitor progress.
Qualifications A bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses. An associate’s degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (including Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (including Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted.
Applicants will be required to obtain C‑1 law enforcement certification by the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one year of employment (12 weeks, including an eight‑week sequestration at the academy).
Selection Process SCDPPPS DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS ARE CONSIDERED DURING THE INTERVIEW PHASE.
