Patient Care Technician II – Nights CICU Join MUSC Health as a Patient Care Technician II in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit during night shifts. The PCT reports to the Nurse Manager and works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing multi‑skilled activities to support patient‑centered care.

Job Summary Support patient comfort and safety by measuring vital signs, assisting with ADLs, ensuring rooms are tidy, and communicating concerns to the care team.

Responsibilities

Measure and document vital signs and monitor patient condition.

Assist patient with personal hygiene, restroom use, grooming, and other daily needs.

Keep patient rooms tidy, sanitized and stocked with supplies.

Help nursing staff administer basic treatments and place patients on cardiac monitor.

Empty drains, ostomies, Foley bags and perform blood sugar checks.

Provide emotional support and assist patients with particular issues or needs.

Assist with other duties assigned by the department leader.

Qualifications & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Minimum one year of patient care experience in a healthcare facility or as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire; maintain current BLS (AHA or American Red Cross).

Strong communication, empathy, patience, and organizational skills.

Ability to work rotating night shifts, overtime, and in a latex‑safe environment.

Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, walk, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and perform tasks that require frequent fine‑motor movements. Must be able to see, hear, and move within specified limits.
