Job Description As a Construction Transportation Technician II, you will serve on Region Two’s Construction Crew 2757, overseeing the construction and maintenance of state roads to keep Utah moving safely and efficiently. You will conduct inspections, test roadway materials, and use software to manage projects, while also performing maintenance duties such as operating snowplows and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the inspection and documentation of UDOT construction projects.
Performing materials testing to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Conducting construction inspection and documentation on work performed by contractors.
Collaborating with contractors to complete construction, maintenance, and permit projects.
When cross‑trained in a maintenance role, assisting in snow‑removal operations and equipment maintenance.
Completing additional duties as assigned by department leadership.
Salary and Benefits
Entry‑level wage of $21.89 to $26.07, based on relevant experience; increases possible with TEP levels.
Earn additional compensation for on‑call, shift differential, weekends, and holiday snow removal.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Residency within a 30‑minute response time of the Region Boundary.
Availability 24 hours a day.
Self‑provide a smartphone with data; eligible for a monthly taxable allowance to offset cell plan costs.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Reliable work ethic and strong teamwork skills.
Willingness to complete continued education in the UDOT Transportation Technician Education Program (TEP).
Obtain required certifications within the first year and maintain them.
Preferences
Class "A" CDL.
Completed TEP training.
Construction or highway/roadway project experience.
UDOT maintenance/construction experience.
Experience operating heavy equipment.
Knowledge of roadway maintenance and snow removal.
Additional Information
Registration with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is required; selected candidates must authorize UDOT for pre‑employment queries.
Position requires pre‑employment drug testing and random drug/alcohol testing after hire.
Exposure to traffic and environmental hazards as part of duties.
Physical requirements: ability to stand, walk over rough surfaces, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift up to 50 lbs. on a recurring basis.
Employee may be reassigned to a different location as necessary.
