District Water Manager • CALTRANS MAINTENANCE AREA SUPERINTENDENT Salary: $7,306.00 – $9,068.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary for the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Overview Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Manager I, the incumbent will manage the District’s landscape irrigation and water conservation programs. Responsibilities include contract administration of irrigation repair and remote‑control interface service contracts, reviewing plans and specifications with other Caltrans programs to ensure efficient irrigation water use, monitoring and reporting progress to District management, and maintaining a valid California Driver’s License – Class ‘C’.

Responsibilities

Administer service contracts for irrigation repairs and remote‑control interfaces.

Collaborate with Caltrans programs to review plans and specifications for efficient water use.

Monitor, record, and report progress on water consumption reduction to District management.

Maintain required certifications, including a valid California Class ‘C’ driver’s license.

Eligibility

Eligibility determined by score on the Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent exam.

Candidates new to state civil service must be on the state examination list.

Working Conditions Location: 320 E. 12th Street, Marysville, Yuba County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

The incumbent will work in a climate‑controlled office, but the building temperature may fluctuate. Workspace involves computers, various lighting conditions, and prolonged periods at a keyboard. The role requires field travel across the District, exposure to high‑speed traffic, extensive walking, and wearing personal protective equipment per Caltrans safety regulations.

Working hours: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, with potential overtime for emergencies or special projects. Telework may be permitted at the Department’s discretion.

Minimum Requirements

Valid, unrestricted Class C driver’s license.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required: 1‑2 pages, 12‑point font, addressing education, training, experience, skills, time management, organization, and ability to handle competing priorities.

Official or unofficial transcripts, degrees, or evaluations for foreign credentials.
