Dispatcher‑Clerk, Caltrans
Salary
$4,106.00 - $5,139.00 per month (minimum salary or alternate range for new‑to‑state candidates)
Responsibilities
Under general supervision of a Dispatcher‑Clerk Supervisor, the incumbent performs dispatch operations for the District Communications Center (DCC) covering the nine Bay Area counties and parts of Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Lake counties. Duties include operating a 40‑channel radio system, answering telephones, operating word‑processing equipment, maintaining records, entering data into spreadsheets and generating reports, and using 40 channel radio for emergency and routine dispatches.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid 40 words‑per‑minute typing certificate Background check (Department of Justice) and drug screening prior to appointment General geographical knowledge of California and the assigned counties Valid and verifiable education, license, or certificate as required by the classification specification (see Class Specification for details)
Working Conditions
Position is located at 111 Grand Ave., Oakland, Alameda County. Office environment with fluctuating temperatures, lighting, and continuous ringing of phones, printers, and radio traffic. Requires irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
