As a Dialysis Technician, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN, perform hemodialysis procedures, order & stock supplies, disinfect/clean RO system, jugs & machines and perform environmental safety checks of the unit. Trinitas offers world‑class expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of renal disease. Our renal program is designated with a 5‑star rating through CMS for excellence in patient care. Our physicians and staff offer years of experience and operate out of three locations that are convenient to area residents. We emphasize expert diagnosis, treatment and early intervention for those at greatest risk. To better serve our patients, all three Trinitas dialysis facilities have achieved 5‑Diamond status through the Quality Insights Renal Network 3. The 5‑Diamond Patient Safety Program was developed as an innovative training and recognition program to assist dialysis providers in increasing awareness and building a culture of safety among patients. Qualifications
Required:
HS Diploma or equivalent Preferred:
One year of nursing assistant experience Certifications and Licenses Required
Certified as mandated by CMS as a Dialysis Technician within 18 months of hire BLS through American Heart Association upon hire date Scheduling Requirements
Shift working, 5 days 2:00pm-10:30pm Scheduled rotating Saturdays Full‑Time (FT) Essential Functions
Prepares the patient station and hemodialysis machines, dialyzers, appropriate lines, and dialysate bath Recognizes and corrects problems involving dialyzer leaks or defects in arterial or venous lines Obtains and records patient weights on the dialysis treatment record, pre- and post dialysis Initiates and terminates hemodialysis treatments according to policy and procedure Responds to alarms and makes appropriate adjustments during treatments Demonstrates clinical competence in cannulation of vascular access, temporary/permanent catheters Monitors and records vital signs according to policy Monitors the infusion of heparin via heparin pump Accurately obtains blood specimens using the appropriate procedure and tubes. Provides a comforting and therapeutic atmosphere for the mature adult, paying special attention to maintaining modesty and providing for self-control in decision‑making, as applicable Performs necessary minor adjustments and repairs on machinery associated with hemodialysis. Maintains equipment information Sets up flow‑sheet logs for water testing and equipment maintenance Performs water sampling and reviews results with the appropriate nurse manager Performs chloramine testing before each patient shift and documents results Performs conductivity meter check daily and documents results Performs monthly disinfection of R/O system Performs necessary steps to place R/O system on bypass and informs Nurse Manager Clean hemodialysis machines and chairs/bed with a bleach solution between patient treatments Performs acid and heat disinfection of hemodialysis machines daily Performs chemical disinfection biweekly on hemodialysis machines Performs daily disinfection of bicarbonate tanks and bicarbonate jugs Prepares bicarbonate bath as needed per standard Performs conductivity and pH testing of bicarbonate mix Places completed dialysis flow‑sheet in the medical record Take age specific vital signs correctly with proper equipment Identified age‑specific patient safety issues Employs normalizing activities for the hospitalized child as applicable Communicates clearly and slowly with the elderly client, assuring understanding of instructions; orientation to environment and reporting of alterations in the same Provides for modestly in the care of all patients Performs other duties as requested.
