Collects pertinent patient information from the patient’s medical record to place onto the IRF-PAI. Monitors and inputs appropriate information for the IRF-PAI into the appropriate computer program.
Sets proscribed IRF-PAI completion dates for the multidisciplinary team. Coordinates the completion of assigned sections of the IRF-PAI by the team.
Reviews each IRF-PAI in total for accuracy before finalizing data for submission. Analyzes FIM scoring to make certain that it is accurate. Appropriately questions and acts to correct any FIM scoring discrepancies. Analyzes medical record coding to make certain that it is accurate. Appropriately questions any coding discrepancies.
Coordinates IRF-PAI processes with various hospital departments to ensure timely billing and that there is appropriate retention of the IRF-PAI. Assures that final IRF CMGs are accurate and transferred to the billing office in a timely manner. If not part of an electronic medical record, prints the IRF-PAI in a timely manner and sends it to the HIM department for filing with the closed IRF record.
Demonstrates and promotes positive relations with all inpatient rehabilitation staff and hospital co-workers. Acts as a resource person to the inpatient rehabilitation program and to the hospital.
Position Summary The Inpatient Rehab Facility (IRF)-Patient Assessment Instrument (PAI) Coordinator assumes the task to complete each IRF-PAI form completely, accurately and in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or has other clinical licensure or certified educational background (example: PT, OTR)
Certifications: Current licensure/certification as required by profession
Preferred Requirements
Experience: Experience with the rehab prospective payment system and the IRF-PAI processes is preferred.
