American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Progressive Care Unit with night shifts caring for mixed surgical oncology and Med Surg patients.
Job Details
- Work on a mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit with both PCU and Med Surg adult and geriatric patients,
- Handles surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics patient populations,
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5,
- Procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies,
- Heavy focus on infection prevention and fall protocols,
- Utilizes Epic EMR,
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30), weekends as needed by unit,
- No set or blocked scheduling; self-schedule requests are considered before balancing the final schedule,
- One week daytime orientation followed by on-unit orientation with a preceptor,
Job Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required,
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,
- Minimum of 2 years relevant nursing experience,
- Experience with adult and geriatric oncology and Med Surg patient care required,
- Epic EMR charting experience preferred,
- ONS Chemo certification preferred,
Additional Information
- Daily responsibilities include monitoring surgical oncology patients, administering chemotherapy and blood products, managing IV drips, and responding to oncologic emergencies,
- Collaborate with a team of staff who are all PCU trained,
- Intensive orientation and support provided during the initial weeks,
- Infection prevention and patient fall reduction are key expectations of the role,
